Tangier Island: Not So Inbred After All

Here are a few pics from my trip to Tangier Island in the upper part of the Chesapeake Bay. Thanks, Don!

This is your captain speaking. Welcome to "Virgin Chesapeake" airlines. Please secure your window latches and your seatbelts as we begin our ascent to 3000 feet. You are allowed as much luggage as the plane can get off the ground. Please feel free to bring along your favorite zippo and machete. You never know how the natives will receive you once we arrive at our destination.

Looking at "Downtown" Tangier as Don jockies the plane around on the downwind leg.

And here we are on final approach to Tangier Island. Notice, at the end of the video clip, the amount of grass in the parking area. We were mowing the grass with the prop. You see the guy in the golf cart? He is the entire airport workforce. He is the tower controller (with a hand held radio), he is the ground attendant, and he is the fee collector for parking at the field.
